HSV can be transmitted even when there are no visible symptoms or lesions. Current treatments only suppress the virus; they do not cure. Blood tests only tell viral presence, not when it will activate. No indicators exist regarding when this may happen. Embedded in the neural cells, the virus may initiate replication (viral shedding) referred to as a “silent outbreak”.
