The herpes viruses are not of the same strains as the venereal wart viruses, herpes is of a seperate virus family. HSV-1 can also cause genital infection and visa versa, yet it is rare. The virus is spread through mucous membranes such as saliva and secretions produced during intercourse. Any close contact with affected areas during an outbreak is also a way of getting infected.
